Burgess Buttercup (Cucurbita maxima) is a classic 1932 heirloom — a turban-shaped, dark green squash with a distinctive gray button on the blossom end. The flesh is exceptionally sweet, dry, and deep orange — one of the finest-flavored winter squash available. Weighs 3–5 lbs. Excellent for baking, steaming, and pies. Good keeper. 100 days.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost in full sun, or start indoors 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Sow 1 inch deep, spacing plants 36–48 inches apart. Water consistently. Harvest when skin is hard and stem is dry.
