Growing Notes

Start indoors 4–6 weeks before last frost, or direct sow outdoors in early spring or late summer for a fall crop. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Thin to 12–18 inches apart for full heads. Water consistently — irregular watering causes tip burn and bolting. Harvest when heads are firm and solid. Provide afternoon shade in warm weather to extend the season.
