Little Caesar is a very attractive, tall romaine type that delivers the classic romaine experience at its finest — crisp, bright green outer leaves protecting beautifully golden-blanched inner leaves with excellent flavor and texture. An outstanding choice for Caesar salads, wraps, and fresh eating, Little Caesar produces impressive upright heads that are as beautiful in the garden as they are on the plate. Heat and frost tolerant, making it a reliable performer across a long season. 65–70 days to maturity.
Direct sow outdoors 2–4 weeks before last frost or start indoors 4–6 weeks before transplanting. Sow seeds ⅛ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Space plants 8–10 inches apart in rows 12–18 inches apart in full sun to part shade. Keep soil consistently moist. Succession sow every 2–3 weeks for continuous harvest. Harvest when heads are firm and full — or cut outer leaves as needed. Tolerates light frost — flavor often improves after a light freeze.
