White Swan Echinacea plants grow as warm-season flowering herbs. Creamy white, honey-scented flowers bloom within four months from seed. This wildflower variety will develop as perennials as upright shrubs with bold pearl-white flowers on thick green stems reaching 2" tall. Once Echinacea reaches full maturity in mid-to-late summer, your plants will produce petals with a floral flavor similar to pine. Harvest the medicinal properties of Echinacea during its summer blooming season or just before winter. The golden-bronze pistils of White Swan Echinacea flowers will turn black before they set seed. The main difference with this Echinacea is how its petals develop as pearl-white with golden-bronze pistils. With bold floral notes similar to pine, White Swan Echinacea provides many health benefits and can thrive in substandard soil. From helping with urinary tract infections to boosting your overall immune system, Echinacea has significant health and medicinal benefits. White Swan varieties are one of the several Purple Coneflower cultivars that aid skin infections and can halt the spread of bacteria. White Swan is an especially good echinacea to grow in containers. Winter hardy to zone 3.

Echinacea species are native to North America and were used as traditional herbal remedies by the Great Plains Indian tribes. Later, settlers followed the Indians' example and began using Echinacea for medicinal purposes as well. Archaeologists have found evidence that Native Americans may have used Echinacea for over 400 years.
