Plantain (Plantago major) is a legendary herb with centuries of use for food and medicine. Plants form a low rosette of leaves 10–20 inches in diameter. In time, a bare, tall flower stem emerges from the crown. Young leaves are sometimes cooked as greens. One of the most widely used medicinal herbs in the world — valued for its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. 200+ seeds per packet.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost. Scatter seeds over prepared soil — seeds need light to germinate, so do not cover deeply. Germination takes 7–14 days. Leaves can be harvested 30 days after first plants sprout. Full sun to part shade. Keep soil moist until established.
