Charentais Melon, Heirloom Seeds β€” The French Heirloom Considered the Best Melon Ever Developed

Charentais (Cucumis melo) originated in the Poitou-Charentes region of western France circa 1920 and is widely considered the finest melon ever developed β€” prized for its extraordinary high sugar content, smooth texture, and ambrosial fragrance. Thick, firm orange flesh with a small seed cavity. Smooth blue-green skin turns yellow when ripe and the melon slips easily from its stem. The Randon family brought Charentais to fruition nearly a century ago, and it remains the benchmark for melon excellence. 90 days.
