Golden Purslane has the same large, tender, succulent leaves and upright habit as our green purslane, but this variety comes in bright yellow-green. Purslane has the highest concentration of healthy omega-3 fats of any crop and is also rich in antioxidants. Leaves are sometimes pickled for storage. Very nutritious and easy-to-grow salad green. Purslane plants have been grown in herb gardens for hundreds of years and are native to Europe. The golden purslane herb is upright with juicy, succulent oval leaves with a mild sweet-sour flavor. Golden purslane herb can also be added to stews and soups, and it is an excellent addition to stir-fries and salads. It makes an attractive garnish too. Purslane can often be found growing in lawns or meadows. It will easily re-grow after being cut and spreads quickly after taking root. Purslane is considered a medicinal herb and a rich source of Vitamin C. In addition, it contains alpha-linolenic acid, which is an Omega-3 fatty acid. It is so simple to grow and offers such wonderful nutritional value.
