Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile, syn. Anthemis nobilis) is the “true chamomile” — a vigorous, low-growing perennial that earns its place in the garden through beauty, fragrance, and versatility. Tiny yellow and white daisy-like flowers release a delightful sweet apple aroma and are used in traditional medicine as a calming, therapeutic tea. The low, spreading habit makes Roman Chamomile an excellent ornamental ground cover, and its flowers attract beneficial pollinators all season. A lovely cut flower and a great companion plant — known to help repel unwanted pests from the vegetable garden.

Growing Notes

Start indoors 4–6 weeks before last frost. Surface sow — seeds need light to germinate; press into soil but do not cover. Water moderately, keeping soil evenly moist during germination. Low-maintenance once established — no stratification required.
