Tatsoi (Brassica rapa var. narinosa) is the Asian mustard green that earns its place in the garden through extraordinary cold hardiness and exceptional flavor. Dense rosettes of dark green, spoon-shaped leaves with a mild mustard flavor and celery-like midribs are crunchy, flavorful, and beautiful β excellent raw in salads or stir-fried. Extremely cold-hardy, tatsoi can be harvested even under snow cover, making it one of the most reliable late-season and winter greens available. Very easy to grow. Baby greens in 20 days, full maturity at 50 days.
Direct sow outdoors in late summer for fall/winter harvest, or in early spring 4β6 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ΒΌ inch deep, 1β2 inches apart. Thin to 6 inches. Full sun to part shade. Water consistently. Harvest outer leaves continuously or cut whole plant at soil level for baby greens at 20 days.
