Tennis Ball (Lactuca sativa) is one of America’s oldest heirloom lettuces — grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello and documented in American gardens since the early 1800s. Small, compact butterhead heads with soft, tender, buttery leaves and a mild, sweet flavor. Named for its round, tennis-ball-sized heads. A genuine piece of American horticultural history. Open-pollinated and non-GMO.
Direct sow outdoors in early spring or fall, or start indoors 4–6 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep, thinning to 6–8 inches apart. Prefers cool weather. Water consistently. Harvest when heads are firm and round.

The seeds arrived around the estimated time of arrival. They were well packaged and looked good. I planted a few 3 days ago and I've already got sprouts.
I hope these flowers will grow in North Dakota! The colors are vibrant and hopefully the bees will like them. I will have to wait until after the Big Thaw in April before I can plant them - can't wait!
