Jory (Lycopersicon lycopersicum) was grown throughout the Willamette Valley for canning in the 1920s — most likely dry-farmed — making it an excellent candidate for dry-farm production today. Oxheart-shaped but much earlier than any other oxheart, Jory produces vigorous vines with a truly multi-use tomato. When irrigated well, it is incredibly juicy, sweet, and delicious with very high yields of 8–12 oz fruit. Produces extremely well late into the season for such an early variety. 60 days.
Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed, spacing plants 24–36 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage. Water consistently for best juiciness and yield. Harvest when fruits are fully colored and slightly soft. 60 days from transplant.
