Growing Notes

Beets are cool-season crops β€” direct sow outdoors 4–6 weeks before last frost or in late summer for a fall harvest. Sow seeds Β½ inch deep, 2–3 inches apart, in rows 12–18 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 3–4 inches for best root development. Water consistently. Harvest roots when they reach desired size β€” most varieties are best at 2–3 inches in diameter.
