Floradel is the tomato for gardeners in hot, humid climates who struggle to get reliable production from standard varieties. Introduced by the University of Florida in 1976, it was specifically developed to withstand heat and humidity while delivering high yields of smooth, bright red, 5–7 ounce slicing tomatoes with slightly deep globes and attractive green shoulders. Crack-resistant and a good shipper, Floradel is an excellent choice for both home gardens and market growers who need a dependable, heat-tolerant slicer.
Perfect for sandwiches, salads, and slicing — a classic Southern garden tomato with proven performance.
Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed, spacing plants 24–36 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage indeterminate vines. Water consistently and deeply. Particularly well-suited to humid Southern and Gulf Coast climates. Harvest at 85 days when fruits are fully red and slightly soft to the touch.
