Ashley β€” The 1956 Southern Heirloom Built for Heat and Humidity

Released in 1956 and specifically bred for heat tolerance and resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew in humid Southern climates, Ashley is the cucumber that thrives where others struggle. Dark green, 7–8 inch fruits with a mild, crisp flavor ripen in 60–70 days on vigorous vining plants that have become the go-to cucumber for gardeners and market growers across the South. Fruits grow low on the vines for easy handling and harvest β€” a practical advantage in a high-production garden.

Excellent for fresh eating, salads, and pickling. An open-pollinated heirloom that has earned its reputation over 70 years of Southern garden performance.
