Growing Notes

Start indoors 4–6 weeks before last frost for spring crops, or direct sow in midsummer for fall and winter harvest. Transplant outdoors when seedlings are 4–6 inches tall, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart in full sun. Keep soil consistently moist and fertile. Blanch heads by tying outer leaves over the developing curd to maintain white color. Harvest when heads are firm, tight, and fully formed.
