This ancient, heirloom corn is far more than simply a traditional food for the Hopi people in Northern Arizona. The Native American Hopi values blue corn for its rich cultural significance. Warriors believed that eating it before a long journey would bring safety; women used it in the naming ceremonies of their babies. Tall, vigorous plants with ears up to 10 in. Hopi Blue Corn can be eaten as sweet corn when young. Usually ground for blue cornmeal for tortillas, corn chips, or blue cornbread. Blue Hopi Corn contains 20% more protein than other varieties of corn.
