Di Cicco (Brassica oleracea) is an Italian heirloom broccoli dating back to 1890 — very vigorous plants producing heavy crops of 3–4-inch wide, blue-green central heads with great side-shoot production for continuous harvest. A short, non-uniform variety producing medium-large heads with great taste. Grows best in colder weather. Can also be used as sprouting broccoli. A very popular variety for the home garden. 60 days. 200+ seeds per packet.
Start indoors 4–6 weeks before last frost, or direct sow in late summer for fall harvest. Transplant outdoors spacing plants 18 inches apart in full sun. Water consistently. Harvest central head when tight and firm. Side shoots will continue producing for weeks after. Grows best in cool weather. 60 days to maturity.
