Cucurbita pepo — White Queen is the pumpkin that stops people in their tracks. Ghostly white skin on a perfectly formed pumpkin, 7–10 inches in diameter — striking, unusual, and endlessly versatile for fall and Halloween decorating. The thick orange flesh is suitable for pies, making White Queen a genuine dual-purpose variety: ornamental showpiece and kitchen pumpkin in one. Open-pollinated. 90–120 days.
Roast halved pumpkin at 375°F until tender; scoop thick orange flesh for pies and soups. The white skin makes a dramatic serving vessel for soups and risotto. Carve for Halloween — the white exterior creates a uniquely eerie jack-o’-lantern effect.
Plant seeds outdoors after all frost risk has passed and soil temperature reaches 65°F. Plant 3–5 seeds 1 inch deep per mound; thin to 2 strongest seedlings. Water deeply but infrequently. Harvest when skin is fully white and firm; cut with a 2–3 inch stem attached. Store in a cool, dry location.
