The Old German Striped tomato is a Mennonite heirloom dating back to the mid-1800s in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia — a tomato with genuine American heritage and extraordinary visual character. Large, bi-colored fruits with golden-yellow skin and reddish stripes weigh over a pound, with a rich, meaty interior that is marbled in gold and red when sliced.
The flavor is deep, complex, and deeply satisfying — the kind of old-fashioned tomato taste that makes you understand why people have been growing this variety for over 150 years. Celebrated for its gorgeous appearance on the plate and exceptional flavor as a slicer for salads and sandwiches.
Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 24–36 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage vines. Water consistently and deeply. Harvest when fruits are fully colored and give slightly to gentle pressure.

The seeds arrived around the estimated time of arrival. They were well packaged and looked good. I planted a few 3 days ago and I've already got sprouts.
I hope these flowers will grow in North Dakota! The colors are vibrant and hopefully the bees will like them. I will have to wait until after the Big Thaw in April before I can plant them - can't wait!
