The Jalapeno M is classified as a "hot" pepper, but It is a very pleasant and popular pepper. The Jalapeno M fruits average 3.5" x 1.5" and are very pungent dark green fruits that slowly turn red. Upright dark green plants grow from 26" to 36" tall and will continue producing over an extended period. Jalapenos are best collected when green and are hottest when turning red and fully ripe. A very popular seasoning in Mexican and American cuisine! Named for their native Mexican city of Xalapa, Veracruz, jalapenos are the most well-known chili pepper in both Mexico and the United States. When smoked and dried, jalapenos become chipotles; this practice dates back to the time of the Aztecs.
