Dating back to 1877, Boston Pickling is one of the oldest and most celebrated pickling cucumbers in American garden history — a very popular variety at the turn of the 20th century that remains exceptional today. Vigorous vines give large yields of smooth, dark green, blunt-ended fruits that are very crisp and of excellent quality, producing heavy and continual yields of 3–6 inch fruits that are perfect for pickling. The dark green cucumbers can also be used in salads, making Boston Pickling a genuinely versatile heirloom that earns its place in any kitchen garden.
Open-pollinated, 57 days. A variety with nearly 150 years of proven performance.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost when soil has warmed to at least 60°F, or start indoors 3–4 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds 1 inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil.
