Yolo Wonder was bred with purpose. Developed at UC Davis in the 1950s as a direct improvement on Cal Wonder, this blocky heirloom bell pepper carries natural resistance to tobacco mosaic virus β a significant advantage for gardeners who have struggled with pepper disease in the past. The fruits are large, four-lobed, and thick-walled, ripening from a deep, glossy green to a rich, sweet red with the same satisfying crunch and clean flavor that made Cal Wonder famous.
For gardeners who want the classic bell pepper experience with added resilience, Yolo Wonder delivers β season after season, without compromise.
Start indoors 8β10 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ΒΌ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 18β24 inches apart in full sun. Water consistently and support heavy-fruiting plants with stakes. Harvest green at 75 days or allow to ripen fully to red at 90 days.
