Warrior β€” The All-America Selection Bunching Onion With Crisp, Pungent Flavor and Exceptional Holding Power

Warrior has earned its reputation as one of the easiest and most reliable bunching onion varieties to grow from seed β€” and its All-America Selection award backs it up. Recognized by AAS judges for its crisp and pungent flavor, trouble-free growth, and excellent holding power, Warrior is an outstanding choice for gardeners across the country. It was particularly noted for its exceptional performance in the Southeast, Southwest, and mountainous regions of the United States β€” regions where many bunching onions struggle. Rich flavor, reliable yields, and long holding power in the garden make Warrior a standout in any kitchen garden.

Why Grow Warrior?

  • All-America Selection winner β€” recognized for outstanding performance across the country
  • Crisp & pungent flavor β€” rich, satisfying green onion taste
  • Exceptional holding power β€” stays in prime condition in the garden longer than most
  • Trouble-free growth β€” one of the easiest bunching onions to grow from seed
  • Excels in challenging regions β€” Southeast, Southwest & mountainous areas
  • Open-pollinated heirloom β€” save seed year after year

Growing Notes

Direct sow outdoors in early spring (4–6 weeks before last frost) or late summer for fall harvest. Sow seeds ΒΌ inch deep, 1 inch apart, in rows 12 inches apart in full sun. Thin to 2–3 inches apart. Keep soil consistently moist. Succession sow every 3–4 weeks for a continuous harvest. Harvest when tops are 6–8 inches tall for best flavor and texture. Excellent holding power β€” plants stay prime in the garden for an extended period.
