Top Hat is a standout heirloom sweet corn bred specifically for gardeners with limited space. At just 4–5 feet tall, these compact stalks produce full-flavored, tender ears of sweet corn without demanding the sprawling room of standard varieties. Whether you're working with a raised bed, a small backyard plot, or even a large container, Top Hat delivers the classic homegrown corn experience in a garden-friendly package.
Open-pollinated and non-GMO, Top Hat is a variety you can save seed from year after year — a true heirloom for the space-conscious gardener who refuses to compromise on flavor.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost when soil has warmed to at least 60°F. Plant in blocks of at least 4×4 for reliable wind pollination — single rows will not pollinate well. Sow seeds 1 inch deep, 6–8 inches apart (closer spacing works well with this dwarf variety), in rows 24–30 inches apart. Water consistently. Harvest when kernels are plump and milky when pierced.
