Brought to market by the Charter Seed Company of Twin Falls, Idaho in 1962, Tenderette is the heat-loving bush bean that keeps producing when others slow down. Vigorous plants grow up to 18 inches tall and bear 6-inch dark green pods in abundance that stay tender for a long time — delicious cooked fresh, canned, or frozen. White seeds. A reliable, practical heirloom with genuine Idaho heritage. 55 days.

Why Grow Tenderette?

  • Heat-tolerant — keeps bearing during the heat of summer

  • Vigorous 18-inch plants — productive and reliable
  • Excellent for fresh eating, canning, and freezing
  • 1962 Idaho heirloom — genuine regional heritage
  • Open-pollinated — save seed year after year

Growing Notes

Sow seeds outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed to at least 60°F. Sow seeds 2 inches apart, 1 inch deep, in rows 20–36 inches apart. Full sun. Water consistently and mulch to keep soil cool. Make successive sowings every 2–3 weeks through midsummer for a continuous supply. Harvest frequently to increase yields.
