Spring King Tomato, Heirloom Seeds — The OSU Dry Farm Trial Winner With Split-Resistant 7–10 oz Fruits Late Into Season

Spring King (Lycopersicon lycopersicum) was bred by Tim Peters of Peters Seed and Research in Riddle, Oregon, and scored highly in the Dry Farm Tomato Trials at Oregon State University. This determinate variety produces large, slightly oblate, dark red tomatoes weighing 7–10 oz — blemish-free, split-resistant, and retaining the calyx on the plant at harvest. Healthy, dark green plants provide excellent leaf cover to reduce sun scald. Maintains quality late into autumn. 60–70 days.

Why Grow Spring King?

  • OSU Dry Farm Trial winner — proven performance under dry-farm conditions
  • 7–10 oz split-resistant fruits — blemish-free, dark red, retains calyx at harvest
  • Excellent leaf cover — dark green foliage reduces sun scald
  • Maintains quality late into autumn — long productive season
  • Open-pollinated heirloom — save seed year after year

Growing Notes

Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart in full sun. Cage or stake. Water consistently — well-suited to dry-farm production. Harvest when fruits are fully dark red. 60–70 days from transplant.
