Developed specifically for its striking pumpkin-orange color by pepper experts Paul Bosland and Danise Coon at New Mexico State University, NuMex Pumpkin Spice is the most visually distinctive jalapeño in the series. Released alongside Lemon Spice and Orange Spice, it was bred to help growers boost sales — and it delivers. Thick-fleshed 2½" pods ripen to a rich, deep pumpkin hue at just 65 days, packing 80,000 Scoville units and 3x the heat of Early Jalapeño. A showstopper in the garden and on the plate.
Start seeds indoors 8 weeks before warm nightly temperatures. Cover ¼" deep in sterile media, provide 85°F bottom heat and bright light. Germination in 7–21 days. Transplant to rich soil 30" apart or into large 5-gallon containers. Harvest when pods reach full pumpkin-orange color.

The seeds arrived around the estimated time of arrival. They were well packaged and looked good. I planted a few 3 days ago and I've already got sprouts.
I hope these flowers will grow in North Dakota! The colors are vibrant and hopefully the bees will like them. I will have to wait until after the Big Thaw in April before I can plant them - can't wait!
