2015 Regional AAS Winner — The Ultimate Pickling Gherkin

Parisian Gherkin F1 is one of the rare varieties available as both an organic seed and an All-America Selections winner. This productive F1 hybrid delivers compact, bumpy gherkin-sized cucumbers in just 50 days — perfect for pickling, fresh eating, and salads. Developed by Terra Organics and recognized as a 2015 Regional AAS winner, it brings exceptional disease resistance and prolific yields to any garden setting.

Why Gardeners Love Parisian Gherkin

  • AAS Award Winner — 2015 Regional All-America Selections recognition
  • Dual-purpose — Excellent for pickling, processing, preserving, and fresh salads
  • Disease resistant — Resistant to Cucumber Mosaic Virus, Powdery Mildew, and Scab
  • Versatile growing — Thrives in garden plots, raised beds, containers (with support), fields, and greenhouses
  • Non-GMO, F1 hybrid — Consistent performance season after season

Growing Parisian Gherkin F1 Cucumber

Direct sow 1–2 weeks after your last frost date, or start indoors 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Sow seeds 1 inch deep, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart with rows 48 inches wide. Choose a full-sun location with rich, well-draining soil (pH 6.0–6.8). While cucumbers can sprawl along the ground, a trellis promotes airflow and healthier growth.

As a monoecious variety, Parisian Gherkin produces both male and female flowers. Insect or hand pollination is required for fruit set. Consistent watering is essential — cucumbers are mostly water and irregular moisture leads to misshapen fruit. Soil testing helps prevent over-fertilization; excess nitrogen can reduce fruit production.

Harvesting Parisian Gherkin

Harvest while fruits are still mini or small for best pickling quality. Frequent harvesting while young encourages continued production — allowing cucumbers to over-mature will reduce overall yields. Use harvesting shears or pruning scissors to cut fruits cleanly from the vine; avoid pulling to prevent plant damage.
