An early variety of long beans imported from China, Yard Long Green produces 20-inch pods that are straight, smooth, bright green, and of excellent quality. This hardy long bean is easy to grow almost anywhere and produces continuously even when it is too hot for regular green beans — making it invaluable in summer gardens. Vines must be trellised as they get very long, and are attractive enough to grow in a flower garden: big, shiny green leaves, purple blossoms that bees adore, and long beans hanging down. Best stir-fried or sautéed. Open-pollinated. 60 days.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost when soil has warmed to at least 65°F. Provide a trellis or support for long vines. Sow seeds 1 inch deep, 4–6 inches apart. Water consistently. Harvest at 12–18 inches for best flavor. Pick frequently for continuous production.
