Michihili (Brassica rapa Pekinensis group) is a classic Chinese cabbage introduced in 1948 and developed to perform well in North American climates. Large, upright, well-blanched heads — 4 inches wide by 18 inches tall — wrapped with dark green leaves and a sweet, mild, subtly peppery flavor. Ideal for stir-fries, pickling, and Asian dishes. Heads are hardy across climate zones 1–9 and can be kept for up to three months after harvesting. Also excellent for microgreens. 70–80 days. 200+ seeds per packet.
Sow in early July for fall harvest. Direct sow or start indoors 4–6 weeks before transplanting. Space plants 12–18 inches apart in full sun. Keep soil consistently moist. Warmer areas may experience earlier harvest and looser leaf formation. Harvest at 70–80 days when heads are firm. Stores well — keeps up to 3 months.
