Lemon Queen (Helianthus annuus) is a tall branching sunflower reaching 5–7 feet with 10-inch diameter pale lemon-yellow blooms. Drought tolerant and sun-loving. As a branching variety, each plant bursts forth with multiple blooms — perfect for cut flowers from summer through fall. Birds flock to these sunflowers for their abundant seeds. 75–85 days to maturity. 20+ seeds per packet.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost in full sun. Sow seeds 1 inch deep, 6 inches apart. Thin to 18–24 inches. Water consistently until established — drought tolerant once established. Stake in windy locations. Harvest blooms for cut flowers when petals just begin to open. Allow seed heads to dry on the plant for bird feeding or seed saving. 75–85 days.
