Klondike R7 (Citrullus lanatus) is a century-old heirloom favorite bred in California from the smaller Iowa Belle watermelon and the classic 1908 Klondike heirloom. A full-sun performer known for its resistance to Fusarium Wilt, tolerance of poor soils, and ability to thrive in heat and drought conditions. Sweet crimson flesh with a tough striped rind. 80–90 days.
Start indoors 3–4 weeks before last frost. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed into warm soil in full sun. Give vines plenty of room to run. Water consistently. Harvest when the belly turns yellow and the tendril nearest the fruit dries.
