Italian Roma, Heirloom Tomato Seeds — The Classic Italian Paste and Canning Tomato

Italian Roma is the tomato that built a culinary tradition. An outstanding variety from Italy and one of the most productive paste tomatoes available, it produces firm, meaty, 3–6 inch oblong, plum-shaped fruits with few seeds and a rich, full flavor that is exceptional for sauce, canning, and freezing whole.

Compact vines are extraordinarily productive — up to 200 fruits per plant — and the fruit is easy to peel with very little waste, making it the definitive home canning tomato. Works beautifully in containers too.

Why Grow Italian Roma?

  • Outstanding Italian heirloom — one of the most productive paste varieties available
  • 3–6 inch plum-shaped fruits — meaty, few seeds, easy to peel
  • Up to 200 fruits per plant — extraordinary, season-long productivity
  • Rich, full flavor — excellent for sauce, canning, and freezing whole
  • Container friendly — compact vines, big production in small spaces
  • Open-pollinated heirloom — save seed year after year

Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart in full sun. Water consistently and deeply. Harvest when fruits are fully red and firm.
