Helios (Raphanus sativus) is named after the Greek god of the sun — and the name fits perfectly. This uniquely colored heirloom produces pale golden-yellow roots with a plump, olive-like shape and sweet, mild white flesh that is quite tasty and genuinely different from any standard radish. Not only beautiful, Helios holds better than most radishes without bolting or getting pithy in the heat — making it an excellent choice for early spring and fall crops in warmer regions. 30–35 days.
Direct sow outdoors in early spring or fall. Sow seeds ½ inch deep, 1 inch apart, in rows 6–8 inches apart. Thin to 2 inches. Full sun. Keep soil consistently moist. Harvest at 30–35 days. Succession sow every 1–2 weeks for continuous harvest.
