Hamson (DX 52-12) — The Utah-Developed Heirloom That Sets Fruit in Extreme Temperatures

Hamson DX 52-12 is a workhorse heirloom tomato developed in Utah specifically for challenging local climatic conditions — and it delivers. Large, smooth, deep red fruits on semi-determinate vines with good foliage cover produce a solid interior with excellent appearance and flavor. What sets Hamson apart is its exceptional adaptability: this variety will set fruit at extremes of temperature and perform well under adverse conditions where other tomatoes struggle. Great for canning, with a solid, meaty interior that holds up beautifully in the jar. 70 days.

Why Grow Hamson?

Growing Notes

Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 24–36 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage semi-determinate vines. Water consistently. Harvest when fruits are fully deep red and firm. Excellent for fresh eating and canning.
