Developed in 1983 by legendary seed breeder Tom Wagner of Tater Mater Seeds in Bakersfield, California, Green Grape is the heirloom cherry tomato that changed how gardeners think about green tomatoes. This indeterminate form produces high yields of 1β2 oz yellow-green cherry tomatoes with lime-green color on the inside β some growing in the shape of a grape, others in the shape of a cherry tomato β in clusters of 6 to 12. They are very sweet, juicy, and flavorful, staying green when mature and turning a golden yellow when fully ripe, making harvest timing intuitive.
Perfect for green ketchup, green tomato soups, sauces, and garnishes, as well as salads and snacking. Indeterminate, 78 days.
Start indoors 6β8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ΒΌ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 24β36 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage tall vines. Water consistently. Harvest when fruits turn golden yellow at the base.
