Gill’s All Purpose, Heirloom Tomato Seeds — The 1947 Portland Heirloom That Does Everything

Bred in 1947 by the Gill Brothers Seed Company in Portland, Oregon, as a cross between Wasatch Beauty and Pepper tomato, Gill’s All Purpose is the Northwest heirloom that earns its name. This versatile variety excels at canning, juicing, slicing, and eating fresh — a genuinely all-purpose tomato with exceptional flavor that is rich and full-bodied, equally delightful fresh or processed.

Semi-determinate plants are compact with regular-leaf foliage and produce outstanding yields of uniform, globe-shaped fruits measuring 2½–3½ inches in diameter, with deep-red skin and a solid, richly colored interior inherited from the Pepper parent. Plants are vigorous, healthy, and disease-resistant, with self-terminating vines producing heavy fruit sets that pack and ship well — ideal for home and market gardens alike.
