Garlic Chives (Allium tuberosum) have flat, tender leaves with a flavor midway between garlic and onion — delicious in salads, spreads, and flavored vinegar. White, star-shaped flowers are long-lasting, ornamentally beautiful, and unlike any other blooms. A must for the culinary herb garden. Grow just as you would regular chives — in full sun and well-drained soil. Good for growing indoors and in containers. Harvest leaves to promote new growth. Very tasty fresh or dried. Perennial. 200+ seeds per packet.
Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost, or direct sow outdoors in spring. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in full sun, well-drained soil. Space plants 6 inches apart. Water consistently. Harvest leaves regularly to promote new growth. Divide clumps every 2–3 years to maintain vigor. Perennial in Zones 5–10.
