Double Standard is one of the most distinctive sweet corns you can grow — a classic open-pollinated bicolor variety celebrated for its remarkable habit of producing two full ears per stalk. Each ear stretches 8–9 inches and is packed with rows of tender, sweet yellow and white kernels that deliver that old-fashioned corn flavor home gardeners love. More ears per plant means more corn per square foot — a true garden overachiever.
Reliable, vigorous, and beautifully productive, Double Standard is an excellent choice for gardeners who want maximum yield from a heritage variety they can save seed from season after season.
Direct sow outdoors after the last frost when the soil has warmed to at least 60°F. Plant in blocks of at least 4×4 for reliable wind pollination — single rows will not pollinate well. Sow seeds 1 inch deep, 8–12 inches apart, in rows 30–36 inches apart. Water consistently and fertilize at planting and again when tassels appear. Harvest when kernels are plump and milky when pierced — typically 85 days from direct sow.
