First introduced in the 1940s and also known as Golden Detroit, the Burpee Golden Beet is a color novelty that has earned a permanent place in home gardens and market stalls alike. Unlike red beets, golden beets don't bleed ā no stained counters, no pink cutting boards, no red-tinted everything. Slice them fresh from the garden when they're almost golden-orange and toss them raw into salads: they're mild, sweet, and surprisingly un-earthy compared to most beets. Cook them, and they turn a beautiful buttercup yellow, retaining a silky smooth sweetness all the way through. Globe-shaped and mild even as they size up, golden beets stay pleasant and never get harsh or overly earthy with age. The tops are a bonus ā tasty, green, and sweet to many palates. Germination note: Golden beets can have a lower germination rate than other varieties ā sow a few extra seeds per spot to ensure a full stand.
Direct sow outdoors 4ā6 weeks before last frost or in late summer for fall harvest. Sow seeds Ā½ inch deep, 1 inch apart, in rows 12 inches apart. Thin to 3ā4 inches for root production. Full sun to partial shade. Keep soil consistently moist. Harvest roots at 58 days when 2ā3 inches in diameter for best flavor ā golden beets remain mild and sweet even if left to grow larger.

The seeds arrived around the estimated time of arrival. They were well packaged and looked good. I planted a few 3 days ago and I've already got sprouts.
