Occasionally a variety may be temporarily out of stock. When that happens, we'll substitute an equally wonderful Brandywine or heirloom beefsteak variety so your kit always arrives complete.
In the Kitchen
Slice all three together for the ultimate heirloom tomato platter — the color contrast of black, gold, and deep red is spectacular. Serve Red Brandywine simply with olive oil and flaky salt. Use Yellow Brandywine in a fresh tomato salad for sweetness without acidity. Slow-roast Black Brandywine for a deeply complex sauce. All three are exceptional in a BLT — use whichever is ripest.
Growing Notes
Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 24–36 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage — all three are large indeterminate vines. Water consistently and deeply; avoid wetting foliage. Harvest when fully colored and slightly soft to the touch. All three varieties produce large beefsteak-type fruits and will produce until frost.
