Organic Bouquet Dill Heirloom Herb Seeds

Keep the fresh scent of dill close to your kitchen. Organic Bouquet Dill produces feathery foliage, airy yellow flower heads, and aromatic seed for pickles, salads, sauces, and summer meals. This early-flowering, open-pollinated heirloom offers more than one harvest: tender dill weed first, followed by flowering heads and, later, ripe seed.

Fresh Flavor and Classic Pickling Heads

Snip the leaves into egg dishes, soft cheeses, soups, cucumber salads, and dressings. Flowering heads also suit pickling and cut-flower arrangements. Upright, branching plants commonly reach around 30–36 inches in suitable conditions, though height varies with climate, spacing, and harvest stage. Give them room rather than treating Bouquet as a miniature dill.

Growing Notes

  • Light and soil: Choose full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Keep seedlings evenly moist without leaving the soil waterlogged.
  • Sowing: Direct sow about ΒΌ inch deep when outdoor conditions are suitable. Direct sowing avoids root disturbance; carefully handled young transplants are also possible.
  • Spacing: Allow about 12–18 inches between plants grown for mature flowering and seed heads. In a square-foot bed, use 1 plant per square foot and allow extra room as the canopy develops.
  • Succession: Sow small batches every 2–3 weeks during suitable growing weather for a longer supply of fresh foliage.
  • Season: Dill grows well in mild conditions. Heat and plant maturity encourage flowering, so continue new sowings rather than expecting one plant to remain leafy indefinitely.
  • Self-sowing: Plants may reseed if mature seed falls to the soil, but a return crop is not guaranteed.

Harvest Details

  • Seeds per packet: Approximately 200+ seeds.
  • Packet weight: 0.3 g.
  • Leaf harvest: Approximately 40–55 days, depending on growing conditions and desired size.
  • Flowering heads: Harvest when the umbels reach the stage needed for your use; flowering heads and ripe seed are different harvest stages.
  • Ripe seed: Usually about 85–95 days or longer. Collect when seed heads turn brown, before seed scatters.
  • Botanical name: Anethum graveolens.
  • Type: Organic, heirloom, open-pollinated annual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I harvest leaves and seed from the same planting?

Yes. Take modest leaf harvests while plants grow, then let some stems flower and develop seed. Separate succession plantings help maintain tender foliage while older plants mature.

Must dill always be direct sown?

No. Direct sowing is convenient and avoids disturbing roots, but young transplants can be used if handled carefully.

Will Bouquet Dill come back next year?

It is an annual. Seed left to fall may produce volunteer seedlings when conditions suit, rather than the same plant returning as a perennial.
