Amish Deer Tongue (Lactuca sativa) is one of the oldest American heirloom lettuces β documented before 1740 in Amish communities. Named for its distinctive pointed, tongue-shaped leaves. Exceptionally heat tolerant and slow to bolt, making it one of the best lettuces for summer growing. Tender, mild flavor. Open-pollinated and non-GMO.
Direct sow outdoors in early spring, summer, or fall. Sow seeds ΒΌ inch deep, thinning to 8β10 inches apart. Excellent heat tolerance β one of the few lettuces that performs well in summer. Water consistently. Harvest outer leaves as needed.
