Victoria, Rhubarb,
Large and productive stalks that are bright crimson fade to green up toward the fan-like leaves. The flavor is similar to a mix of gooseberry, apple, and a little citrus. Compared to other varieties, this rhubarb is a bit sweeter and milder. This hardy variety is easy to grow from seeds. It usually blooms in late May/early June and, in some places, into the summer. The leaves and roots contain toxic oxalic acid that keeps pests at bay. However, the large fat stalks are good to eat. They are often used in jams, jellies, cobblers, pies, etc.
Perennial that can be harvested as soon as the second season.
