Hatch Green Mild NM 6-4 Chile peppers The most popular green chili to grow because of its mild heat content, and it matures early and grows well in short seasons. Hatch Green Mild - NM 6-4 has always been the standard for open-pollinated mild green chili. It is an incredible variety; it is 6" long with thick fleshy walls and grows on 30" plants. They range in size from 4 to 6 inches and have mild heat, averaging about 1,000 to 8,000 Scoville Heat Units. The long, thick peppers mature from green to red and can be used in green or red, but their heat level is spicier when red. Hatch Chile is not an actual variety, but a term used to describe peppers of several varieties grown in the Hatch area of NM.
