Sandy Leaf Lettuce is a compact, dark green oakleaf variety with crisp, ruffled leaves and a sweet, mild flavor. Maturing in 30 to 50 days, it won the 2015 All-America Selections award—the first lettuce to do so since 1985. Its 10- to 12-inch heads are ideal for containers or garden beds, delivering high yields for salads, sandwiches, and wraps. Sandy is very slow to bolt, maintains excellent texture and taste even in heat, and resists powdery mildew, downy mildew, and tip burn. Thriving in various climates, it can be direct-sown in early spring or late summer, and harvested leaf by leaf or as a full head. Its easy growth, reliability, and attractive appearance make it an outstanding choice for both home and market growers.
