Burbank (Lycopersicon lycopersicum) was developed by the legendary horticulturist Luther Burbank around 1915 — and it was the only variety he raised specifically for canning. Stocky determinate plants reach 30–36 inches and produce heavy yields of majestic 3–4 inch, 6–8 oz fruits with very deep red color and a traditional bold tomato flavor.
