Planter Jumbo melons are the product of the and Clemson, South Carolina Agricultural Experimental Station; Dr Morris Hughe led the experiment. Planter Jumbo melon was first offered to gardeners in 1954. The melons are 4-5 pounds, have a thick, protective rind, and are lightly ribbed.
