Red Noodle or Yard Long beans are a well-known variety in southern China, celebrated for their unusual purple-red color and exceptional flavor. Deep red, 18-inch pods are delicious and nutritious — and remarkably, they keep most of their color when sautéed, making them as beautiful on the plate as they are in the garden. Long vines produce all summer and do well under many conditions. This vigorous, heat-tolerant plant will draw lots of attention to your home garden. Small red seeds. 80 days.
Direct sow outdoors after last frost when soil has warmed to at least 65°F. Provide a trellis or support for long vines. Sow seeds 1 inch deep, 4–6 inches apart. Water consistently. Harvest at 12–18 inches for best flavor. Pick frequently for continuous production.
