Giant Luo Buo (Raphanus sativus) is a large oval white radish very popular in Taiwan — growing 8–10 inches long and 5–6 inches in diameter with sweet, mild flesh and an impressive weight of 2–2.5 lbs. A cool-season annual that thrives in fertile, well-drained soil, Luo Buo is excellent raw, pickled, or simmered in soups until soft and silky. A productive and versatile Asian heirloom that earns its place in any serious vegetable garden.
Direct sow outdoors in early spring or late summer for fall harvest. Sow seeds ½ inch deep in fertile, well-drained soil. Thin to 6–8 inches apart. Full sun. Keep soil consistently moist. Harvest when roots reach desired size — typically 60–70 days.
